The history of the university began with the formation of the Oryol State Agricultural Institute in 1975. In 1995, it acquired the status of an agricultural academy, which in 1999 was transformed into the Oryol State Agrarian University.

The Institute of Retraining and Advanced Training of the Oryol State Agrarian University carries out educational activities in 97 programs of additional professional education (DPO), of which 70% are advanced training programs.

In 2015 alone, the university received 42 patents for inventions and won a grant in the amount of 20 million rubles in a competition for research projects that are especially significant for the Russian agro-industrial complex.
As part of the implementation of the project for the development of dairy cattle breeding, with the active support of the Department of Agriculture of the Oryol Region, on the basis of the Oryol State Agrarian University, a Reference Analytical Center for monitoring and controlling the quality of milk and dairy products in the region was created and is effectively functioning.

The Oryol Construction College was organized in 1952 on the basis of a one-year school of master builders; it had only one full-time department in the specialty “Industrial and Civil Construction”.
On April 17, 1958, the construction technical school was merged with the industrial technical school and provided admission to the specialties “Industrial and civil construction” and “Production of building parts”.
In 1991, the Oryol Construction College was formed on the basis of the construction technical school.
In 2001, the Oryol Construction College became part of the Oryol State Agrarian University as a structural unit.
In 1956, the Agricultural College was founded, which later became part of the Oryol State Agrarian University.
On October 5, 2011, by the merger of the Construction College and the Agricultural College, the Multidisciplinary College of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education Orel State Agrarian University was formed

In our college, the educational process is conducted by more than 70 highly qualified teachers. The teaching staff has extensive experience, which allows us to provide a high level of theoretical and practical training for graduates.
An academic scholarship is provided for successful completion of the curriculum. Students who provide a certificate of the right to receive benefits receive a social scholarship, and for excellent studies they are awarded a scholarship from the Governor of the Oryol Region.
The Multidisciplinary College successfully implements training programs for mid-level specialists (PPSSZ) in eight full-time and four part-time specialties. One of the forms of integrated training of vocational education specialists is, of course, the practical orientation of training. In accordance with the educational programs of all specialties, the college organizes educational and industrial (in the specialty profile, pre-graduation) internships.

Every year, excursions are organized for students, visits to exhibitions in different cities of the Russian Federation, trips to the sea, sports and recreational events, sports sections, and concerts with the participation of students are prepared for various holidays.
In our college there is a club for military-patriotic education of youth. The children take part with interest in events in memory of those killed in the war; master the basics of drill and fire training; learn to assemble and disassemble weapons; make trips to the training ground together with the Bastion club.
Graduates of our college work in design organizations, as heads of departments, and as leading specialists at enterprises in the city and region. Many graduates decide to continue their education at higher educational institutions in Russia and abroad.
Over the years of its existence, the college has trained a large number of competent construction technicians, mechanical technicians, architects, specialists in land and property relations, landscape technicians, accountants, agronomists, and veterinary paramedics.
